Min 3000 Hand knocks (Which is way better and safer than machine knocks)
Our process
Proper bat knocking process could take between 3 – 6 hours depending on how soft the willow is.
1. Lightly sandpaper the surface of the bat with 180 – 200 grit sandpaper
2. Apply oil onto the blade of the bat to cover approx. a 50 cent Ausi coin. No oil in contact with stickers and no oil on Splice
3. Bat left for about 8 hours lying horizontal blade up
4. Hitting high quality wood mallet against the blade firmly, but not hard
5. Increase force after an hour.
6. After about 2 hours, mallet hit reasonably hard against the blade.
7. Oil at least twice during knocking
8. Use mallet handle to round edges
